NUTextSocket ActiveX Control

The NUTextSocket ActiveX Control enables you to use TCP/IP stream sockets within your applications. This control is specially designed for sending and receiving unfragmented lines of delineated text or blocks of binary data - it can also function as normal TCP stream socket. It's line orientated mode makes it an ideal component for developing applications that use the line oriented Internet protocols (SMTP, POP3, NMTP, FTP control etc).

  • Send and receive unfragmented lines of text - the default line terminator is CR/LF but this can be overridden.
  • Send and receive unfragmented blocks of binary data (both client and server must be using NUTextSocket).
  • Can function as standard TCP streams socket.
  • Optional remote host name to IP address resolution.
  • Suitable for both client and server applications.
  • Configurable inactivity timeouts.
  • Multiple different line terminators when receiving text.
  • Data received is delivered to your application via LineArrived event.
  • New incoming connections to servers are signalled by the NewConnection event.
  • Outgoing successful connections are signalled by the Conected event.
  • Hides the underlying Windows Sockets behaviour/API leaving you to get on with designing and building your application.
   
Platforms NUTexSocket has been tested with Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000. It can be used by applications that have been developed using any tool that supports ActiveX Controls (e.g. Visual Basic 5/6, VC++ 5/6, Access, Internet Explorer, Delphi, Powerbuilder etc).
